Youth Protection Video Now Available Online

posted Nov 11, 2014, 1:54 PM by Robb Marhula

Troop 290 takes youth protection seriously. We are encouraging every scout, volunteer leader and parent watch the youth protection videos that have been provided to us by the Boy Scouts of America. For access to the Youth Protection Training videos go to: http://training.northernstarbsa.org/info/youthprotection.aspx. Look part way down the page for you may view or download the videos HERE. By Clicking HERE a page will download that will provide links to the video.

From there the youth should watch the video titled “A Time to Tell”. Note that the video is 48 minutes long, so you should plan to have enough time available to watch the entire video. If you do not have time to watch the entire video, there are five separate parts to the video that can be watched separately. These consist of Abuse by a Relative, Abuse by a Youth Leader, Abuse by a Youth, Internet Safety and Bullying by Peers. We also encourage our SPL and two ASPL’s take the time to watch the entire video and have discussions with the patrols about the content of the video.

Even though the website seems to indicate that the adult video is attached to this link, we were not able to locate that video here. The adults who were present did watch the Youth Protection Training Guidelines for Volunteer Leaders and Parents” video during our Troop meeting on November 10th. For those who were not present or could not view the entire video, the Troop has this DVD which is available to any adult that would like watch this training video. This video is approximately 20 minutes long.
